Mandy Shaw brings with her to Sewing Quarter, many years of experience. She has featured on BBC Leisure Hour, At Home with Maggie Philbean and Kirstie Allsop’s popular craft programmes, working both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. One of her favourite projects involved teaching Kirstie how to make a Christmas stocking in her workshop. Before her on-screen career kicked off, she taught patchwork and quilting for over 15 years.
It all started when, at the age of five, Mandy made a ‘sort of’ dress from an old sheet. Her style is a little different nowadays: her work can be quite traditional with whimsical characters. She rarely makes a repeat block, always adding a twist.
She spends much of her spare time with family: she has four children, two grand children, two dogs and one tortoise. She loves walking, as well as visiting gardens, galleries and National Trust properties.
