Jo CarterJo Carter is well known for her adorable toy designs, and regularly features as a guest designer on Sewing Quarter shows. Her creations include budgies, sausage dogs, bears and whales. Her latest design is a pair of reindeer, and she’s transformed her popular bear into a fabulous Christmas version too.
Jo grew up in a family of keen sewists with fabric and sewing a big part of her life, and learnt to sew from her mum and grandma. She went on to work as a soft toy designer for 10 years where making samples developed her creativity, and encouraged her love of small details and complicated techniques.
Jo is most famous for her toy patterns in our sister magazine Simply Sewing, but has also created quilting projects for Love Patchwork & Quilting. She’s getting to grips with free motion quilting with the FMQ foot on her sewing machine, and she also enjoys learning new dressmaking techniques and EPP hand sewing.
Jo blogs for Sizzix, and uses her Big Shot machine and dies to cut out fabric shapes. You can read about her latest makes here (https://www.sizzix.co.uk/blog/category/jo-carter/).
